I forgot all about telling you that "Lucie" has been contacting me again. It seems even after I told her there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell we would be doing this reality show she just wouldn't believe me. Mark had convinced her via email that he and I were "patching things up."
It really is rather sad, considering this was not a joke at all. They are a very reputable company and have a lot of well known reality shows (see link above). This would have been a once in a lifetime opportunity for us, which most likely will never happen again in our lifetime. But, under the circumstances, there is no way we could do anything of the sort with Mark in the condition he is in.
I got this email from her on January 3rd:

Happy new year! I just talked with Mark who has asked me to contact you with regards to reinvigorating this TV show. It appears he is calmer and not nearly as manic thanks to the medication. I know things were bad back in Dec, just curious if anything has improved for you and the company since. I am only reproaching you as Discovery channel has been pestering me about your company and wanted to move forward with shooting something. I know last time we talked, you felt Mark was a danger and it wouldn't be safe for my crew or you. However, with the new medication and a month pass, I am curious if your feelings had changed on that.
This could be an incredible opportunity, but one that can only work if I shoot with the entire crew/shop. It was the idea of a family run business and the different types of people in the locksmithing business that appealed to the network.

I didn't respond to her. One reason was I was deathly sick with the flu during that time. But, mostly I just couldn't wrap my head around her considering doing this after me previously explaining that Mark is not well.
On the 5th of January she wrote Mark to let him know I had not responded. She decided perhaps they could "shoot around me." What she just didn't understand is that perhaps the -only- technician even remotely interested in doing the show now was Joe. Chris and Pat wanted no part of this because of Mark's behavior.
I was reading the book my therapist had given me about Verbal Abuse. In fact, earlier that night I was explaining to Kristin many of the things I had learned. I was happy that I was no longer obsessing about things Mark said or did as much. I went to bed at 11:00. I have no idea why, but I picked up my phone and saw I had a new email. This is what I read. It was Mark's response to Lucie:

The team won't tolerate shooting around Diana. She is fragile right now Lucie, kinda on the edge if you know what i mean. Unless we can get Diana on board this idea has no chance whatsoever.
It's interesting to note that Mark is cc'ing his brother Bruce, his old girlfriend Becky, our technician Joe and the assistant producer Melinna in this mail. Why on earth would Bruce and Becky be included in an email for a show they have absolutely nothing to do with? Welcome to my world.

All of my reading just went out the window. I tossed and turned and was SO ticked off. I tried to use my new training techniques, but nothing I could do would stop my mind from thinking about these words:

I continued to toss and turn. My mind kept thinking about those two phrases and exactly how I would respond. Finally at midnight I gave up and went in to the kid's office and turned on the computer. I very carefully responded to that email:

Myself (as well as all of our other employees) have been sick with this dang virus that knocked us all off our our feet for the past week. It's been crazy busy in the shop with me all alone there running it for the past month in Mark's absence. I suppose being sick and the stress made me appear a bit edgy to Mark once he returned.
Please know that I am far from fragile. It's true, I am still very sad at the death of my sweet bird. That only makes me a woman in mourning. And, a woman that is very grateful to still be alive herself if you know what I mean.
Finally, I am not clear as to what Mark means by 'the team not tolerating shooting around Diana'. I did show them all your email an Thursday. Each of them chuckled when they saw it.
So, I'll make you a deal. If you can find even two of the employees (with the exception of Mark and myself) willing to still do this count me in 110%.

After I wrote this email and sent it I was able to fall asleep in less then five minutes.
Lucie did respond the next day. I guess she didn't get the subtle hints in my mail. She wrote back:

That flu was the absolute worst! I was in bed with it for 3 weeks! I hope you're all recovering, ugh how horrible.
Alright boys, here's the deal. As you can see from the MANY emails I am looking to come out to Florida to shoot a sizzle reel. I have continued interest from the Network and it's gotten to the point where this show looks close to green light before it's even really been pitched. Which is why I am circling back with you folks.

Firstly, the show is about locksmiths and the crazy people the encounter on a daily basis. I would do an interview with each of you then pair you off on several jobs. If it's easier, I can certainly film Mark alone one a call, but I would love to pair others. I need a close up of a safe getting unlocked, a car getting opened and a random locksmithing job. I want to spend minimal time in the shop, but when I do I want to highlight Diana and Joe.
Watch the sizzle, imagine yourselves in a show. If it's something that interests you, then let me know ASAP. There's a nice chunk of money to be made from this by all of you if this goes to series. It's worth a shot right?

"Locked and Loaded" was a great name she had picked for the show. In retrospect it seems rather fitting (especially the loaded part). Needless to say, after that last email no one has heard from Lucie again.
